Description: My sculpture is a of a pink Florida flamingo resting in a pond. Flamingos are native to Florida. In the late 1800's they started disappearing from Florida due to habitat loss and hunting. But they have made a come back. Around 1925 people started captive flamingo colonies in South Florida. Today wild flamingos can be spotted in the Everglades and the Florida keys. To make this sculpture I got a plastic bottle and cut it up and I used the hot glue gun to apply a few ribbons on to the plastic. I was originally going to use wire but the wire was too flimsy. The way my thinking changed is that now I look at objects and think about how pieces of them can be used to make art and of course the more we reuse objects the better for our environment.
