Description: Recycled Ralph: Recycled Ralph's Message ... Pollution is caused by humans, affecting our climate and quality of life. Our quality of life is lessened because people throw away plastics and harmful substances into our waterways. This is why we created our friend, Recycled Ralph. He demonstrates what a fish's everyday life is like dealing with pollution. This sculpture relates to the theme of water and climate change because it represents the fish's home as a polluted environment with plastic water bottles thrown into the ocean. This causes ocean degradation and biodiversity loss. We were inspired when we were helping recycle leftover computer boxes. These boxes consisted of cardboard, plastic bags, and foam. These could hurt the environment, so we decided to build something out of it instead of putting pollutants into the atmosphere or water. We created a polluted aquarium in the center of the robot to represent how not just the fish are trapped, but it's our only home with no way out - and so we must treat it right. This creation was completely made of materials that would have been thrown away except the cardstock the fish are made from. Written by Adrian Kirby,
