Description: I was inspired to make a manatee because when I've gone kayaking cuts on their back and I used to plastics to represent that. Using plastics and recyclables made me think about how I was using it for art and it would not end up in the water, harming manatees and other sea creatures. The process to create my manatees started with a cardboards for the base and paper mache to build the manatees. I then covered them in plastic pieces I cut and heated with a lighter to warp the plastic and then painted with shades of blue. I finally added ribbons to the manatees and the seaweed.
