Welcome to the 2026 DooDad Sculpture Competition!

The competition portion of the 2025 Repurposed DooDad Sculpture Competition has officially concluded, and we are incredibly grateful to the students, teachers, families, and schools who brought this year’s theme to life with such imagination and ingenuity.

From inventive uses of obsolete objects to thoughtful interpretations of “Florida, Flying into the Future,” the sculptures submitted this year demonstrated the creativity, humor, and environmental awareness that make the DooDad Competition so special.

Judging and People’s Choice Voting has completed! 🎉

While the judging is complete, the celebration continues! Many of this year’s sculptures are now being featured in exhibitions throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Thank you to every student artist who participated and to the educators who encouraged their creativity!

Description: Cindy the Seagull: Cindy the Seagull is a common seagull typically seen on Florida beaches, but she is adorned in plastic beads, a cable around her wings, and a cut soda can on her head. Underneath her is sand mixed with bottle tabs and scraps of trash on a ham container lid. I made her by using the paper mache sculpture technique and hot glued feathers around her body and twisted wire legs. As to what inspired my artwork is the same thing that has been an issue with most Florida beaches, which are the large amounts of polluted trash that seagulls and many other common beach animals can mistake for food or get entangled in, causing severe damage or even death. I tried to show the innocence of the seagull by its unaware gaze. In the process of making this artwork, I learned about how to effectively make paper mache and boosted my problem-solving skills.
