DooDad Workshop : Old Hyde Park Art Center

From Yellow Doodads to Big Ideas!

Get ready to think like an artist, inventor, and engineer! In this hands-on workshop, participants will discover the theme of the 13th Annual Repurposed Doodad Sculpture Competition “Yellow: The Sunshine State. What does Florida mean to you?” and explore this year’s required Doodad material: yellow ribbon fabric.

Using design and engineering thinking, young creators will brainstorm ideas, experiment with possibilities, and learn how to transform ordinary, discarded yellow objects into an extraordinary sculpture. Participants will leave the workshop with a creative game plan—including an idea, materials list, and construction plan—to guide them as they build their own Doodad sculpture at home for submission to the competition.

Come ready to imagine, invent, and see everyday objects in a whole new way!
